Since 2007, Lyn has been teaching at various colleges and universities. He joined the Satish & Yasmin Gupta College of Business in 2020. Lyn received his Master of Science in organizational leadership from Colorado State University and his DBA from the University of Dallas. He had a successful career in hospitality (division director for various Starwood Hotels and Resorts properties), law enforcement (certified in Colorado as a Police Field Training Officer, co-author of the Field Training Manual approved by Colorado’s Peace Officers Standard Training (POST) Board, awarded Commendation Letter for Heroism in 2006 and Life Saving Medal in 2013), and academia (credentialed in Colorado as a Business/Management/Marketing Community College Instructor; Dean’s Certificate for Excellence in Educating and Retaining Students).

One of his research studies was presented at the 2018 annual conference of the Academy of Management and it was the base for a methodological paper he published in Sage Research Methods Cases. Currently, he has several marketing papers in the data analysis or final review stages before publication, and with fellow UD faculty member Greg Bell, PhD, he contributed a chapter, "Advancing socially responsible strategies through earned social media," to the volume Business with a Conscience: A Routledge Research Companion (2022).
